Stick Sparring-Fighting
This is the night we cut our teeth in the arena of public stick fighting "February 26th, 2000".
We had been full contact padded stick fighting for a few years at this point, but only in private. We were teaching at a boxing gym and had been asked to do an exhibition stick fight during the intermission at a USA boxing event. The "exhibition" aspect of the situation went out the window as soon as the bell sounded.
The sticks are 3/4 inch rattan wrapped in pipe insulation and duct tape .
This first shot is of some of us before the fights began.

Scott finding a two leg over arm bar, series 1 technique number two.

Post fight

As Guro Marc "Crafty Dog" Denny best says, "Be friends at the end of the day."

The sticks that we are currently using for light-- moderate sparring are action flex sticks, we purchased them off the Dog Brothers web site. We highly recomend them. Buy a pair today and save your body. For light sparring we start off with action flex sticks, hand and groin protection and wekaf style head gear.
