Ground Grappling

Our ground grappling curriculum is a compilation of, Maphilindo Silat, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Western Wrestling, Shoot Wrestling "Shooto", Panantukan, and Filipino Dumog. We strive to emphasize realistic entrance from different empty hand and weapons ranges through the utilization of drilled techniques and the honing of martial attributes through rolling and sparring. By focusing on an effective and realistic transition between ranges from the standing clinch position we teach our students how to control position in a fight that goes to the ground and then focus on developing the ability to quickly stand back up.

The Art and Philosophy of Jeet Kune Do

At the Bloomington Normal, JKD-Kali-Silat group we adhere to the philosophical ideals of Jeet Kune Do Concepts. By teaching our students to explore, internalize and ultimately modify the arts of Inosanto blend Kali, Pencak Silat, Maphilindo Silat, Muay Thai, Dog Brothers Martial Arts and Lee Jun Fan Gung Fu, we guide the student to discover their own unique personal attributes and personal philosophy. This life journey enables the student to develop their own individual expression of Jeet Kune Do. Through a process of one on one training, group training and rigorous self development our teaching techniques empower our students to express themselves more honestly and allow them to realize their own strengths and areas of growth as individuals as well as members of society.
