About Us
Bloomington-Normal Kali/Silat/Jeet Kune Do Concepts/Jun Fan Gung Fu

We are a Jeet Kune Do Concepts school " JKDC” We study Lee Jun Fan Gung Fu, Inosanto Blend Kali, Maphilindo Silat, Muay Thai "Thai Boxing Association of the USA", Dog Brothers Martal Arts"DBMAA" and Ground Grappling.
We use The Art and Philosophy of Jeet Kune Do to develop the arts we practice together, into something uniquely individual for each and every student that we teach.
It is our belief that although we are all different physically, spiritually, and emotionally and we all express ourselves in different ways; that through the study of these arts; commonalities in the human experience are revealed to us.
Diversity is what we all bring to the table of life. Inclusion is what you will receive when you study martial arts within our group.
It is fundamental to our philosophical beliefs that these arts be shared so as to protect the weak from the oppressors of this world. We believe that no person possesses ownership of the martial arts. These arts were created within cultures for the protection of people. These arts have been handed down from generation to generation to insure the survival of people and cultures. It is our responsibility to protect the arts as taught by our elders so their ideas and the principals of these arts are preserved for future generations.
We also believe that continual research transformation and rebirth of the arts is vital to keep them a living entity; an alive and useful tool if you will.
We remember with great respect and humility all of the practioners and instructors who came before us. Many of these brave individuals gave the ultimate sacrifice to practice/preserve these arts.
We respect all arts and all styles. To each his own.
Equally important to the retention of knowledge and the passing of the Arts from one generation to the next is to introduce the concept of daily decrease into the arts you are building and simultaneously tearing apart(it is important to realize that this concept continually happens over years of practice). It is equally important to remember and teach all of the components of the art so as to allow the next generation the ability to facilitate their own growth and development.
Point the student in the general direction: but a definitive path will always be climbed differently by each individual. My JKD is different from your JKD but we will always teach you the entire curriculum from all of the arts that we know. It is your job to eventually hack away and make something unique to yourself. An instructor is like a guide holding a flashlight to a path at night time. In just a few moments day will break and the light of a new day and a new vision will allow you to walk on the path alone.
As Best stated by Sijo Bruce Lee..."Walk on"
At that time when day breaks and your instructor has given his all, at that time you must..."break free", you must..."Walk on".
God Bless,
Scott, Joe, Terry
